Heh, long overdue post.
Anyway, we got silver for SYF! Are you satisfied with it? Hmm.....I'm not :P
What done is done, so we won't dwell over it.
Why do all my paragraphs have one sentence only?
Over the past year, I've seen you guys improve tremendously. Seriously, stop saying you suck (cough). Because you guys don't. Think back, just one year ago around this time. During POP when we were playing Flight of Valor. Do you think we would have managed to play Sinfonia at that point of time?
I think the obvious answer is no, because I really think that we sucked that time. It was only with improvement did we manage to reach our current standard.
Moving from a piece like Flight of Valor to Sinfonia Nobilissima (correct spelling right?) is no easy feat. If you aren't convinced, you can also compare Sinfonia to Aquarium, which the sec 4s played with the alumni for the previous SYF. Looking back, I feel that Aquarium is so simple compared to Sinfonia.
Also, the bar for this year's SYF has been raised to quite a high level. I have a feeling that if we entered this year's SYF with our 2009 standard, we could have garnered only a Bronze. I feel that getting a Silver for this SYF is already a tremendous achievement. You already saw how many bands got Bronze. No offence to them though, I'm sure most of them worked hard.
In about 1-2 months time, I will be officially stepping down! How you guys feel? Will miss me right. I know tyty. Who will be taking over uh? *shifty eyes*
But before I step down, there will still be Speech Day! :D
So, remember to play your instruments every few days to keep in touch k? Don't come back to band after exams and play like you first time play like that. Remember that we were a Silver standard band only for that 15 minutes on stage. No more, no less. So, you still can sound like a COP band on Speech Day if you slack la. So don't slack. Must show the school that we are worth our Silver right!
Sec ones ah. Remember to work hard! Speech Day will be your first performance so must enjoy it k? Lol I still remember my first Speech Day performance. You guys are the future of the band, so don't think of giving up or anything, because the band needs YOU the most. Listen to your wisewise seniors and also work hard!
Okay, so I will stop typing now. Good luck for exams and good luck for SYF'13 assuming that we don't all die in 2012! I'll be watching you guys!
With lots of friendly love, your very nice SL, San Zhi.
